In-Symmetry entryway

This is the entrance to a spa near Potrero Hill. The space was originally just filled with brown boxes and planters, and there were lots of unused terra cotta pots milling about. The challenge was to efficiently and immediately make this space more exciting. The remedy? Paint the boxes baby blue; add a phormium for fun, jagged edges against the wall, and for its “fountain” effect; and plug in lots of aloe and aeonium cuttings, which will naturally and easily self-propagate for a big, impressive effect.
