Sustainable Gardening

Small Spot Gardens takes environmental stewardship seriously and is dedicated to the following sustainable practices:

• Gardens are designed to minimize water use and lower stormwater runoff
• Plants are selected to provide a diverse range of habitats to encourage beneficial organisms
• California native plants are almost always incorporated into the design to support our local ecosystem
• Pests are controlled according to organic practices
• Organic fertilizer is used and only when needed
• Maintenance is done primarily with hand-tools to minimize petroleum usage
• Existing plants and hardscape materials (wood, stone, etc) are creatively re-purposed to cut down on waste
• Greenwaste is composted
