Sustainable Gardening
Small Spot Gardens takes environmental stewardship seriously and is dedicated to the following sustainable practices:
- Gardens are designed to minimize water use and lower stormwater runoff
- Plants are selected to provide a diverse range of habitats to encourage beneficial organisms
- California native plants are almost always incorporated into the design to support our local ecosystem
- Pests are controlled according to organic practices
- Organic fertilizer is used and only when needed
- Maintenance is done primarily with hand-tools to minimize petroleum usage
- Existing plants and hardscape materials (wood, stone, etc) are creatively re-purposed to cut down on waste
- Greenwaste is composted
